Hotel Delhi Heights : Humayun Tomb Tour
Humayun Tomb (World Heritage Site)- An example of early Mughal architecture, introducing the double dome culture in India, was built in 1565-66 by Humayun's wife - Haji Begum, in memory of her husband. It was estimated to have cost rupees one and a half million. Standing on a 8 metre high platform and set in the centre of a large square garden enclosed by high walls on three sides, this magnificent red and white building is as spectacular as Taj Mahal In Agra. An octagonal Tomb of Isha Khan (a nobleman in the court of Sher Shah) is also there, which was built in 1547-48. Jahan-e-Khusrau, the Sufi Music Festival dedicated to Amir Khusrau, Is held at Humayun Tomb.
