Delhi Haat- Situated in the heart of Delhi, the unique Dilli Haat is an upgraded version of the traditional weekly market, offering a delightful amalgam of craft, food and cultural activities. Spread over a spacious six acre area, imaginative landscaping, creative planning and the traditional village architectural style have combined to produce the perfect ambience for a haat or market place. A plaza paved with stone and brickwork skillfully interspersed with grass, flowering shrubs and towering eucalyptus trees, plus a play corner for children, have conjured up an oasis in which visitors can browes at their leisure. The food plaza enables visitors to savour the inimitable flavours of gastronomic delights from the various regions of India. The different stalls offer a wide choice of ethnic food which is clean, hygienically prepared and reasonably priced. It often is a venue for regional food festivals. Practically every state of the country is represented. The choice is awesome moms & thukpa from Sikkim, wazwan from Kashmir, spicy prawn bal chao from Goa, Vada pao, shrikhand at Maharastra counter, the list is endless. A wide variety of skillfully crated handicrafts, intrinsic to each part of the country are available in this exotic bazaar. Gems, beads, brass-ware, metal crafts, silk and woolens the range is limitless. Dilli Haat has completed its 11th year on 28th March 2005. In its eleven year existence Dilli Haat has hosted many overseas dignitaries and the list includes HRH prince Charles, president of lceland, presidents of India and diplomatic corps. HRH prince Charles interest in this project has initiated the work of starting Dilli Haat in London. Thus far Dilli Haat has recorded 13.70 million foot falls and over 50,00 crafts person have sold their wares generating business worth $9,15 million.
